CREATIVITY
RESULTS
I have created vertical videos/reels/shorts for various social media platforms including YouTube, Instagram, TikTok & Facebook.
I tried different methods of storytelling, following social media best practices to engage with audiences across each platform.
For KCENNews, I focus most of my attention to creating YouTube shorts/Instagram reels for my ‘Morning Munchies’ series highlighting local restaurants and their respective owners. These social videos serve as promotion for the full episodes available to stream.
I’ve found that our viewers like two things: real people and good food. These reels consistently perform well on our platforms garnering larger viewership numbers as compared to other social videos covering local stories.
The other social videos I create are for more trending videos of local or national stories with exciting and compelling video to capture audience’s attention.

I have had the opportunity to freelance with local organizations such as DAWA - a non-profit dedicated to supporting the BIPOC community.
For DAWA’s VISION 82:91 project, I trimmed down several interviews into breathable 60-90s reels for their Instagram page paired with subtitles.
As a creative producer at KCENNews I work almost exclusively with the Texas Today morning show. I quickly realized the morning show wasn’t getting enough social media attention for the work they would contribute throughout the day. As a side project I created this social media page with the help of our former executive producer. Every now and again I maintain the social media page highlighting the morning team and the talent’s they bring to the station.
This page also provides more of a feel-good look into the news cycle, offering more evergreen and entertaining posts compared to the overall 6 News station page.
